How to Start Your Telehealth Visit

Step 1: Schedule Your Appointment

  1. Log into the Patient Portal
  2. Click "Schedule Appointment"
  3. Select "Telehealth/Video Visit" as your visit type
  4. Choose your provider and preferred time
  5. Confirm your appointment - you will receive an email confirmation

Step 2: Prepare for Your Visit

Before your appointment:

  • Test your technology - Make sure your camera, microphone, and speakers work
  • Find a quiet, private space - Good lighting helps your provider see you clearly
  • Have your medications ready - Keep prescription bottles nearby to review
  • Write down your questions - Make the most of your appointment time
  • Check your internet connection - A stable WiFi connection ensures clear video

Technical Requirements

  • Browser: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge (latest version)
  • Device: Computer, tablet, or smartphone with camera and microphone
  • Internet: Broadband connection (minimum 1 Mbps)
  • App: No special software needed - runs in your web browser

Step 3: Join Your Video Visit

  1. 5 minutes before your appointment - Log into the Patient Portal
  2. Click the "Join Video Visit" button (appears 15 minutes before your appointment)
  3. Allow your browser to access your camera and microphone when prompted
  4. Wait in the virtual waiting room - your provider will join shortly
  5. After your visit, a summary will be available in your patient portal

Insurance and Costs

Telehealth visits are covered by most insurance plans at the same rate as in-person visits. We accept:

  • Most HMO and PPO plans

Troubleshooting Tips

"I cannot see or hear my provider"

  • Check that your camera and microphone are not blocked by browser settings
  • Try refreshing the page
  • Close other programs using your camera (Zoom, Skype, etc.)
  • Make sure you granted permission when prompted

"My video is freezing or choppy"

  • Move closer to your WiFi router
  • Close other browser tabs and applications
  • Ask others in your home to pause streaming temporarily
  • Try connecting your computer directly to your router with an ethernet cable

"I cannot find the Join button"

  • The button appears 15 minutes before your appointment
  • Make sure you are logged into the correct patient portal account
  • Check your email for a direct link to join
  • Call 1-833-PARS-MED for immediate technical assistance
